The Durrës Archaeological Museum is the largest archaeological museum in the country. The museum is located near the beach and north of the museum are the 6th-century Byzantine walls, Constructed after the Visigoth invasion of 481AD.

The Town Hall and theater face each other and behind them is the ruins of the Byzantine Forum. The forum and baths is thought to date from the end of the 5th century B.C. and only a few of the Corinthian columns still stand. Part of the Roman bathhouse can also be seen with a few black and white marble tiles that lined the pool visible.

The Venetian Castle is an extension of the Byzantine Fortress of Durrës. Built in the sixth century, it was considered as one of the most powerful fortresses along the western coast of the Adriatic.
